New Year's Greeting from Jo Ann Davis
I appreciate the support of the Korean American community both now and in the future. The friendship of the United States and Korea over the past fifty years has been important to citizens of both countries. Those Koreans who have come to America as their new home have made this country a better, stronger place.
As a member of the Armed Services Committee of the United States House of Representatives, I am anxious to see a continued strong alliance between the United States and the Republic of South Korea. For fifty years,
these ties have been strong and helpful to the people of both nations.
I look forward to the strength of this friendship continuing in the immediate future and over the next fifty years.
To the members of the Korean American Women's Associations of USA I am deeply concerned, as you are, for those Koreans who wish to immigrate to this country. Some of those are affected by the passage of HR 3987. I am committed to studying this bill carefully as the 109th Congressional session approaches in 2005.
May the year 2005 be a year of friendship and prosperity for all Americans.

지난 50년 한미간의 변치 않는 우정이 우리 서로간에 신뢰가 구축이 되어 계속적인 관계를 이어지고 있다는 것은 중요한 사실입니다. 여러 한인 친구들은 미국을 새로운 정착지로 정해 미국을 보다 좋은 사회 건설과 강한 미국을 만드는데 힘이 되어 주고 있어 다시 한번 감사드립니다.
저는 연방하원 군사분과 위원과 국제관계 분괴위원으로서 한미간에 돈독한 관계 유지에 늘 관심을 가져 강한 동맹 관계를 증진하는데 힘쓸것입니다.
한미동맹 50년은 양국간에 간직해야할 귀중한 역사의 유산들입니다. 이 귀중한 역사 과정을 우리 기억 속에서 헛되게 지어버려서는 결코 안됩니다. 지금의 동맹관계는 앞으로 50년 동안 연장되어야 한다는 희망을 갖고 있습니다. 저도 의회에서 이 문제를 위해 적극 참여할 것입니다.
미주한미여성회 여러분. 저 역시 여러분들처럼 하원에 제출한 혼혈인 미국 시민권 부여 법안 HR 3987 통과에 대해 매우 관심을 갖고 있습니다. 수많은 혼혈인들이 이 법안이 통과됨으로 인해 구제 받을 수 있다는 중요한 사실입니다. 그러므로 109기 의회가 개회되는 데로 이 법안을 신중히 검토 연구할 것임을 약속드립니다.
2005년은 한국계 미국시민들의 번영과 미국의 번영을 위한 좋은 해가 되기를 바라는 바입니다. 이를 위해 우리 모두가 마음과 뜻을 한데 합쳐 새로운 미국을 건설합시다. 고맙습니다.
